TheÌýInclusive Parliament Coalition has issued a statement on theÌýÌý

The Inclusive Parliament coalition, led by the RCSLT and STAMMA, welcomes the response to the report but warns that further action is still needed to ensure Parliament is fully accessible for signers and people with communication disability, difficulty or difference.ÌýÌý

The response sets out the Administration’sÌýcommitment to improving accessibility across the parliamentary estate, including through strengthened governance, accountability mechanisms, and continued investment in physical accessibility and staff training.Ìý

However, while the response sets out a range of actions relating to infrastructure, organisational processes and digital communications, it does not provide a clear or comprehensive approach to communication accessibility or to ensuring equitable participation in parliamentary processes. The focus remains on facilitating adjustments within existing systems rather than reforming those systems to be inclusive by design.ÌýÌý

We therefore urge the House Administration to build on the progress outlined and to work with theÌýcoalition and relevant organisations to deliver the practical, systemic changesÌýrequiredÌýto ensure Parliament is accessible to and inclusive of everyone.Ìý

Our statement sets out in detail what we welcome and what more needs to be done.”
